Ways to Install or Uninstall wasi-libc Ubuntu 22.04

This is a work in progress. It’s usable for many purposes, though the APIs aren’t stable yet. For example, this is used by the Rust compiler to build its standard library for the wasm32-wasi target. I will show you how to install wasi-libc on Ubuntu 22.04 in this guide.

Software Requirement

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 22.04 or older Ubuntu versions
  • Privileges: Make sure you are able to execute sudo commands.

Prerequisites to install wasi-libc on Ubuntu 22.04

Install wasi-libc Ubuntu 22.04

wasi-libc is one of the popular ways on Ubuntu now so that this tutorial will show you some ways to install it. Choose the one you believe is simple and easy to follow.

Install wasi-libc using APT

This is one of the most popular methods for installing Ubuntu packages because it’s easy to follow, even if you are a newbie in Linux. Following these steps to install wasi-libc on your Ubuntu 22.04.

Step 1: The APT package repository cache needs to be updated before you try to install, update, or remove any packages. Update the APT database to download new packages from Ubuntu. Launching the terminal and entering the following Linux command:

sudo apt-get -y update

Step 2: Install the package on Ubuntu 22.04. You can now install wasi-libc Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo apt-get install wasi-libc

Install wasi-libc using Aptitude

You must run this command to install Aptitude if you haven’t already done so on Ubuntu.

sudo apt-get -y install aptitude

After that, you can now install wasi-libc, just following these steps:

Uninstall wasi-libc on Ubuntu 22.04

Have you ever thought that uninstalling an application from Ubuntu is difficult? You are mistaken; Anyone can easily uninstall any program, not just wasi-libc.

You can uninstall wasi-libc Ubuntu by running this command if you installed it using APT or Aptitude.

sudo apt remove --auto-remove wasi-libc

You can also execute this command if you want to uninstall wasi-libc and remove its data and dependencies:

sudo apt autoremove --purge wasi-libc
