Ways to Install or Uninstall tboot on Ubuntu 22.04

Trusted Boot (tboot) is an open source, pre-kernel/VMM module that uses Intel(R) Trusted Execution Technology (Intel(R) TXT) to perform a measured and verified launch of an OS kernel/VMM. In this tutorial, I will show you how to install tboot on Ubuntu 22.04.

Prerequisites to install

Install tboot using APT

This is one of the popular ways to install any Ubuntu packages because it’s easy to follow, even if you are a newbie in Linux. Following these steps to get tboot on your Ubuntu 22.04.

Step 1: Update the APT database to download new packages from Ubuntu. Opening the terminal and executing the following Linux command:

sudo apt-get update

Step 2: Start installing the packages on Ubuntu 22.04. You can now install tboot Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo apt-get -y install tboot

Install tboot using Aptitude

Aptitude allows users to view a list of available packages and manage package installation, upgrade, and removal. If you haven’t already done so, run this command to install it.

sudo apt -y install aptitude

Then, you can now install tboot by following these steps:

Step 1: The APT package repository cache needs to be updated before you try to install, update, or remove any packages. Update the APT database to download new packages from Ubuntu. Launching the terminal and entering the following Linux command:

sudo apt update

Step 2: Start the package installation on Ubuntu 22.04. After updating the system, you can install tboot Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo aptitude install tboot

Uninstall tboot on Ubuntu 22.04
