Ways to Uninstall or Install placement-api Ubuntu 22.04

OpenStack Placement provides an HTTP service for managing, selecting, and claiming providers of classes of inventory representing available resources in a cloud. In this tutorial, I will show you how to install placement-api on Ubuntu 22.04.


  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04 or older versions with more than 2GB RAM
  • Privileges: Make sure that you can run the sudo commands line.

Install placement-api using APT

This is a popular method for installing any Ubuntu packages because it is simple to understand, even if you are a Linux beginner. Following these steps to install placement-api on your Ubuntu.

Step 1: Obtain new packages from Ubuntu by updating the APT database. Opening the terminal and executing this Linux command:

sudo apt update

Step 2: Start installing the packages on Ubuntu 22.04. You can now install placement-api Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo apt install placement-api

Install placement-api using Aptitude

You must run this command to install Aptitude if you haven’t already done so on Ubuntu.

sudo apt -y install aptitude

Then, you can now install placement-api by following these steps:

Step 1: The APT package repository cache needs to be updated before you try to install, update, or remove any packages. Update the APT database to fetch new packages from Ubuntu. Launch the terminal and enter the following Linux command:

sudo apt-get -y update

Step 2: Install the package on Ubuntu 22.04. You can now install placement-api Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo aptitude install placement-api
