Ways to Install or Uninstall mpack Ubuntu 22.04

Mpack and munpack are utilities for encoding and decoding (respectively) binary files in MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) format mail messages. For compatibility with older forms of transferring binary files, the munpack program can also decode messages in split-uuencoded format. In this tutorial, I will show you how to install mpack on Ubuntu 22.04.

Requirements

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 22.04 or older versions with more than 2GB RAM
  • Privileges: Make sure that you can run the sudo commands line.

Prerequisites to install mpack on Ubuntu 22.04

Install mpack Ubuntu 22.04

Install mpack using APT

Step 1: The APT package repository cache needs to be updated before you try to install, update, or remove any packages. Update the APT database to download new packages from Ubuntu. Opening the terminal and executing this Linux command:

sudo apt-get -y update

Step 2: Start installing the packages on Ubuntu 22.04. You can now install mpack Ubuntu by executing this command in the terminal.

sudo apt-get -y install mpack

Install mpack using Aptitude

If you haven’t already installed Aptitude on Ubuntu, run this command to do so.

sudo apt-get install aptitude
